Since 2006, the Handi Voile 06 initiative, aimed at individuals with disabilities from organizations and associations in the department, has allowed them to enjoy the pleasures of sailing.
A minimum of 4 people per outing, accompanied by a sufficient number of educators/caretakers, is necessary to benefit from the program. The general council can fund up to 10 sessions per person per year.
In 2012, 443 individuals with disabilities discovered sailing and kayaking during the 695 organized outings!
A summer tour, Handi Voile 06, on the Handiplages of eight municipalities in the department offers the opportunity to discover sailing and kayaking activities for free, allowing families to sail together.
The program accommodates all types of disabilitiesโphysical, mental, visualโ with the only regulatory condition being proof of swimming ability and no medical objections to practicing sailing.
The activity is entirely free of charge for individuals with disabilities and their families.
