Indicative of its popular success with encounters featuring international “big names” and the best of Azur Jazz, Jazz sous les Bigaradiers offers more than ten days of concerts.
La Gaude is truly a land of events, and “Jazz sous les Bigaradiers” remains one of those rare moments where one can still satisfy the pleasure of “living together.”
Fresh, new, and friendly, with the added bonus of the Jazz Trophies of the French Riviera being awarded.
The 19th edition of Jazz sous les Bigaradiers features 20 orchestras, 100 musicians: international big names, such as the Italian trumpeter Enrico Rava and the American drummer Sangoma Everett, meet the best in national Jazz, with trumpeter Airelle Besson and guitarist Nelson Veras, and the most talented locals including Pierre Marcus’ quartet and the Compagnie So What.
Friday, November 13 at 9 PM, it will be the gala evening at the La Coupole hall with the Danish New Jungle Orchestra of Pierre Dørge and opening act, the Compagnie So What.
Pierre Dørge’s New Jungle Orchestra is Danish. For 35 years, it has traveled to more than 50 countries playing over 1,000 concerts. Its musicians provide the audience with a unique and extraordinary experience.
The Compagnie So What has been practicing for over twenty years an inventive and joyful Jazz to please the ear. In 2015, the septet toured Germany and Italy and released a 7th CD: Zingara.
Saturday, November 14 at 9 PM, gala evening again at the La Coupole hall with Airelle Besson and Nelson Veras/Enrico Rava as well as the trio of Sangoma Everett.
Airelle Besson and Nelson Veras, with compositions or jazz standards, perform at the best European festivals and present a poetic dialogue between guitar and trumpet.
Enrico Rava and the trio of Sangoma Everett: at 18, a Miles Davis concert in Turin convinced him to dedicate himself to the trumpet. In the 1960s, his horizons expanded to Argentina and then to New York. Several times voted “best musician” and “best album” by “Musica Jazz,” he will play in a quartet with the immense American drummer Sangoma Everett who, from clubs to festivals, tirelessly travels the world.
