What is the Fête du Vélo (Bike Festival)? Whether for leisure, sports or commuting, in the city or in the countryside, over 20 million French people of all ages, backgrounds, and origins ride a bicycle.
Useful, popular, and modern… cycling is firmly embedded in our lifestyles and truly deserves to be celebrated.
WHAT’S NEW IN 2013?
This year, the Fête du Vélo is themed: “Cycling brings us closer!”. It first brings us closer to others: a social vector, a link between generations, a remedy for isolation… But one can also say that cycling brings us closer to nature, our destinations… or even to our body (health, well-being) and why not, to our banker! (economical).
The 2013 edition also innovates by adopting a “dress code”: encouraging participants to wear green attire!
Committed to promoting gentle transport modes, the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur is organizing the 17th edition of the National Bike Festival with the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS).
The launch of the Bike Festival will take place this Friday, May 31 at 4:30 PM in front of the Palais Acropolis with an Urban route.
On this occasion, on Saturday, June 1, a sports hike, a cyclo-discovery of heritage for the general public, and numerous activities throughout the day at the Expo Village will be offered.

Departure at 7 AM – In front of the Centenary Monument.
8:30 AM: Gathering at the parking lot of the Esteron cycle path at Pont Charles Albert.
9:30 AM: Arrival on the Promenade des Anglais, in front of the Théâtre de Verdure.

Sports activities offered by the CDOS 06, a road safety course by the Municipal Police, loan of Vélobleu bikes (ID required), loan of electric bikes, fitness sessions, and Trial VTT activities by the Gaude Moto Club… all day long, at the Exhibitors’ Village.
