But after having played with others’ words, it is with his own troubles that Henri Concas will delight his audience on a stage that has seen and heard the humor of Nice for years, the Francis Gag theater. The big leap thus for the opening of the Fourres de Rires festival that takes place starting today in Old Nice.
But enough “talking” and let’s get to the question and answer game…
Nice Premium: Henri, haven’t you turned into a discovery that’s going to be served on a platter for the Fourres de Rires?
Henri Concas: Yes, but not a seafood platter, let’s not make me out to be a calamari. More seriously, but not too much either, I embark on the Fourres de Rires adventure with joy and apprehension. You know, up until today, I could hide behind the texts of geniuses like Devos, Desproges, Bedos etc… Here, thanks to Fabrice Mauro, President of Sian d’aqui, or because of him… I play my texts for the first time in public….
NP: And what are you going to make us discover?
HC: I will make you discover my somewhat quirky universe and at the same time very rooted in our reality. The audience that doesn’t know me will discover how to mock oneself and my friends will rediscover shame. You know I sometimes cultivate the “beaufitude” attitude!
NP: A new stage for you in Nice?
HC: Francis Gag, it’s magical! I’ve already worked there as a… hairdresser, but playing there is emotional in prospect. For 8 years, I’ve had the pleasure of playing at Bouff Scรจne with Monique Battiston and Alain Aimรฉ. 120 seats, you are almost on the audience’s knees, hence the importance of not being too… heavy. It’s an excellent school of cafรฉ theater and life.
NP: But my little finger told me about another project on another stage in a new place, right?
HC: Yes, you are a very good “fikanas”! It’s at 24 Marรฉchal Foch Street, a new venue has just opened, and Ben, the master of the place, has delighted me with the ability to set up homeless theater actors.
This venue allows, today, a troupe to rehearse and perform in the same place, hence the expression “homeless”. 100 seats, a bar, and perfect technical support thanks to SB music, not to mention Lisiane, an excellent drama teacher with whom I had the pleasure of acting. It’s the union of goodwilled people from Nice.
An association of benefactors indeed!
