Health Sport: Together to Improve the Lives of the People of Nice

All studies confirm it: physical activity is an important factor in the prevention of health problems. It is also an indispensable tool in care and rehabilitation.

To put it simply, when the engine is good, everything else follows.

This simple observation leads to a general conclusion: expenses to encourage or engage in sports activities (at all levels) can or should be considered investments, with the return being the reduction of public or private health costs (including increasing life expectancy or decreasing mortality due to illness).

In the business world, the reasoning follows the same logic: employees in good shape fall ill less often (resulting in higher productivity), feel better in their skins (resulting in more active participation), and are more collaborative (leading to better performance).

In this context, a corporate health sports policy should not be considered a luxury or an incidental benefit but a useful lever for better functioning of the company or its activity in the case of individual or independent entrepreneurs.

Based on this observation and the supporting data, UPE06 has been committed to this path with the “Entreprise en Forme” program for 7 years.

This program aims to develop primary prevention, which seeks to prevent the onset of disease by addressing its causes since it intervenes before the disease occurs, and “tertiary” prevention, which aims to reduce recurrences, disabilities, and is intended to limit the complications and aftereffects of a disease.

The challenge remains to promote this concept in companies along with the associated difficulties. For large companies, it’s a matter of raising awareness (human resources policies, employee committee choices, etc.), while in SMEs/VSEs, it’s also a question of organization. It’s not easy to act when you’re talking about just a few units… For this, the path of pooling resources (for example, territorially) could be a practical solution.

The issues of financing and legal-administrative matters also remain: in fact, there is the hypothesis that external contributors can be considered, in certain cases and circumstances, as employees. Likewise, complicated administrative processes with mutual insurance providers are real barriers.

Thanks to its partnership with Care Labs, UPE06 believes it has found the solution that allows for progress. Through the “Chèque Santé,” the brokerage activity between the participant(s) and the professional facilitator enables the creation of the legal and administrative structure for financing health-related physical activity programs aimed at business leaders and employees.

Having created the tool, a vast undertaking awaits the promoters to achieve a satisfactory situation.
