On the occasion of World Ocean Day (June 8), join us for the “Ocean21” event, a gathering that will honor and amplify the “voice of the ocean.” Until June 12, there will be activities, conferences, debates, screenings, artistic interventions… to discover marine natural and cultural heritage.

The different types of plastics that occupy our daily lives and the manufacturing processes that cause their ecotoxicity. With Patrick Navard, engineer in material physics (INSA Lyon) specializing in polymers and Marie Luiza Pedrotti, researcher at CNRS working at the Villefranche Oceanography Laboratory and coordinator of the TARA Mediterranean expedition.

Legislation, local authorities and associations, their role in evolving the mentalities and behaviors of citizens. With Maรฎtre Hรฉloise Aubret, environmental law lawyer and waste law professor at UCA, Jamila Poydenot, project manager at CIPE for the Lรฉrins Islands and Cรดte d’Azur and coordinator of Ecogestes Mรฉditerranรฉe PACA at the Lรฉrins Islands and Cรดte d’Azur and Laurent Calatayud, Director of the cleanliness service of the City of Nice and Thomas Pomรฉro, president of the association Bleu Gorgone.

What is the reserve effect? What role can local authorities play in creating and managing MPAs? Why is the Blue Coast Marine Park an example of a successful Marine Protected Area? How can the MPA network contribute to current ocean conservation challenges? 9:30 AM-12:00 PM: Collective beach cleaning in Nice on and under water โ Municipal Galleries, Quai des Etats-Unis
Distribution of materials to participants (bags, pickers, gloves). At 11:30 AM, collection will stop for waste weighing. This solidarity action will conclude the Ocean21 event.
