Météo France announces a new heatwave episode for this week, with maximum temperatures that could reach 40°C.
In anticipation of this heatwave, the General Directorate of Health reminds everyone of the advice to protect themselves and their surroundings, especially the most vulnerable people.
A guide has been released:
Infants and young children: Make sure to protect them continuously from the heat (avoid going out during the hottest hours, make them drink and hydrate regularly, have them wear a hat and sunglasses, and apply sunscreen on them). Never leave them in a poorly ventilated room or vehicle, even for a very short time.
Children: Encourage their hydration and cooling. If you care for them, keep an eye on them to prevent drownings. During the summer of 2018, accidental drownings increased by 30% compared to the summer of 2015, particularly during periods of intense heat.
Workers: Drink plenty of water several times a day. Be vigilant for your colleagues and yourself. Protect your skin from the sun, and if you feel unwell, report it quickly.
Athletes: Avoid physical activity during the hottest hours of the day.
In case of chronic illnesses or regular medication, do not hesitate to seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
