During the “Have Your Say” citizens’ meeting, residents of the Musicians, Carré d’Or, and Hôtel des Postes neighborhoods engaged in over an hour of discussion with Christian Estrosi.
This gathering, attended by more than 250 people, occurred in an open and constructive dialogue atmosphere. Residents were able to ask questions about various topics: cleanliness, safety, green spaces for dogs, or even night-time disturbances. Faced with residents concerned about their neighborhood, the mayor emphasized the importance of these direct exchanges, in a climate of trust and freedom of speech.
The answers provided were backed by several numerical data points. In 2024, the city collected more than 19,800 bulky waste items and nearly 9,720 tons of household waste. Combating graffiti and illegal postings remains a priority, with over 234,000 interventions recorded last year. Since 2020, more than 44 million euros have been invested to calm, beautify, and modernize the living environment of the people of Nice.
A series of projects to transform the heart of Nice
Beyond the assessment, the meeting allowed the mayor to unveil a series of development projects directly linked to the concerned neighborhoods. Objective: to enhance quality of life, ease traffic flow, and adapt the city to climate challenges.
- Creation of a future Police Headquarters and redevelopment of the surrounding areas, to improve coordination of security forces.
- Extension of the Promenade du Paillon, with an additional 8 hectares of green space.
- Commissioning of the Tzarewitch Park-and-Ride, to promote public transport and reduce car pressure.
- Development of the Wilson parking and creation of a garden, to improve the urban environment.
- Implementation of the green frames Gioffredo and Hôtel des Postes, with green corridors, bike lanes, and shaded areas.
- Consultation on the Masséna pedestrian area, for a more peaceful and greener city center.
- Construction of the future Shoah Memorial, dedicated to memory and transmission.
- Modernization of public lighting, with more economical and better-integrated devices into heritage.
- Refurbishment of the sidewalks on Rue du Congrès, for a more accessible, safe, and green public space.
- Deployment of the 3rd Acti’Santé Nice Centre loop: a 3.6 km wellness path in public space, accessible to all.
Christian Estrosi also highlighted concrete achievements already delivered, like Esplanade de la Bourgada, inaugurated in June 2024, and Esplanade De Lattre de Tassigny, transformed into a 6,000 m² urban forest with more than 450 trees planted.
This exchange allowed the municipality to reaffirm its ambition for Nice: to become a model city in ecology, quality of life, and citizen dialogue.
