There is the Covid-19 virus and the protest virus: if the first has already caused two lockdowns and limited mobility, the other, on the contrary, gives the French and people in Nice the urge to move. Favored by spring-like temperatures despite the autumn season, people are protesting for every reason.
Last week it was against the closure of businesses, particularly cafes and restaurants. This Saturday, the list had expanded โ in addition to the closure of businesses โ to the “global security” law being discussed in Parliament (a specific protest had already taken place during the week, initiated by leftist movements), and the mandatory wearing of masks, especially for children (a small delegation of whom was present… accompanied by their parents).
The title of the protest, “Gathering for our Fundamental Freedoms and Rights,” was emphatic and the call was launched by one of the many Riviera groups created on social networks before this Saturday’s protest. More than 500 people marched. The “voice of the people,” like the yellow vests of last year?
What did they say and do? Since people are supposedly not doing much, let’s say they took the opportunity to get some fresh air and exercise a bit.
It seems that the leader calls themselves “Jeanne… Garibaldi.” That says it all. Oh poor Pepin, forgive him!
