Still unsure about what a Start-up Weekend is?
It’s a business creation challenge that takes place over a weekend, scheduled for January 27-29, 2012, in Sophia-Antipolis.
On Friday, participants arrive in the early evening. Those with an idea pitch it very quickly to the other participants. The most convincing projects are then selected by other participants, and teams naturally form based on everyone’s skills: programming, web marketing, PR, design, etc.
Participants then need to develop their project throughout the weekend, while being guided and advised by coaches. The weekend is interspersed with a few mini-conferences on entrepreneurship.
On Sunday evening, projects that wish to do so present their work to a jury composed of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and specialists. The best projects are then selected and win some interesting prizes, such as support for further developing their project (but we’ll reveal all that later!)
