The Villa Arson opens its doors on September 17 and 18 for the 28th European Heritage Days. It’s an opportunity to discover (or rediscover) this site, its gardens, its architecture – labeled as 20th-century heritage – and particularly the connection Villa Arson has with heritage, having been an institution dedicated to art for forty years.
Located on the Saint-Barthélémy hill, the Villa Arson occupies a vast domain of over 2 hectares, overlooking the city of Nice and the Baie des Anges.
This unique architectural ensemble, erected in the middle of a Mediterranean garden, comprises the old 18th-century residence of the Arson family, now nestled within modern structures designed in the 1960s by Michel Marot.
The reopening to the public, after rehabilitation work, of the 4,500 m2 of terraces – a true hanging garden and belvedere over the city – is one of the highlights of this discovery.
Program highlights include:
A free discovery tour (from 2 PM to 7 PM) and guided tours (at 2 PM and 4:30 PM) of the site, architecture, gardens, and terraces; architectural tours (at 4 PM); exploration of the media library and workshops (at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM); an interactive model of the architecture in 3D images;
Screening of “A Cinema Experience” (organized by L’Eclat); visits to the art center’s exhibitions and the graduates of the school, etc.
