Hundreds of amateur cyclists gathered in Nice today to collect their prized bib for the seventh edition of the Haute Route Alps. They will set off tomorrow morning from the Promenade des Anglais to cover 896 kilometers and climb more than 22,000 meters of vertical gain in seven timed stages before reaching Geneva next Sunday.
The course of the Haute Route Alps 2017 will give participants the opportunity to tackle the most legendary climbs in the cycling world while enjoying services usually reserved for professional cyclists.
From the Izoard to the double ascent of Alpe d’Huez, including the lesser-known climbs of the Cols de l’Epine and Feu, the riders will have the chance to discover the best of the French Alps.
Benjamin Chandelier, the Event Director, is eager to see the riders set off tomorrow from the Promenade des Anglais. “This year’s course will really take them to the heart of the Alps. It’s a real challenge to take on, but we’re confident that with the support and assistance in place, the riders will truly enjoy their Haute Route experience and cross the finish line in Geneva with big smiles.”
