Highway A8: an accident causes long disruptions towards Italy, traffic remains difficult

An accident on the A8 motorway caused significant delays between Antibes and Villeneuve-Loubet on Thursday, July 23rd. Despite the reopening of lanes, several kilometers of traffic jams persist heading towards Italy.

Days follow one another and resemble each other on the A8 since the beginning of July. Traffic difficulties continue on Thursday, July 23rd on the A8 motorway heading towards Italy. A minor accident that occurred in the morning severely disrupted traffic between exit no. 44 at Antibes West and exit no. 47 at Villeneuve-Loubet.

According to information provided by VINCI Autoroutes, a 12-kilometer traffic jam initially formed on this very busy route. The operation is now complete and lanes have been cleared. Nevertheless, the consequences remain significant on a network already heavily congested during peak summer season.

At 12 o’clock, traffic remains difficult. Nearly five kilometers of slowdowns are still recorded and travel time shows more than 40 additional minutes for motorists heading towards Italy.

Faced with this situation, VINCI Autoroutes invites motorists to exercise caution and to adjust their travel plans. “Traffic conditions will remain difficult this afternoon and tonight”, states the operator’s statement. Teams remain mobilized to secure the area and inform users in real time.
