Horse racing will highlight charity organizations on February 25th. The Cagnes-sur-Mer racetrack will host the initiative of the Princess of Monaco, the “Charity Mile,” a 1600 meters race where each horse will represent a charity.
Few uncertainties remain after the event’s presentation by Franรงois Forcioli-Conti, President of the Cรดte dโAzur Racing Society. “We do not yet know if the Princess will be present, or the names of all the VIPs. It’s actually a bit of a puzzle for the organization.”
Aside from that, the ease with which the event manager describes the organization is almost disconcerting. Behind his large, pristine white round table, he unveils the program, its ins and outs. The context of the race, which will take place at 3:15 PM, is particular since it will be surrounded by the events of the first stage of the Dรฉfi du Galop 2017.
After the general context, the major players of the event are addressed. Franรงois Forcioli-Conti acknowledges the involvement of the sponsors, as well as certain jockeys, trainers, and figures in the horse racing world. It’s the only moment during the conference where he pores over the press kit to ensure no one is overlooked. “We have gathered โฌ50,000 in endowment and perhaps more by the time of the event. I would like to thank gentlemen Benoist, Boudot, and Soumillon who have donated a day’s winnings for the event.”
No charity is left out as each horse will represent one, but the rewards will be distributed among all even if a horse withdraws from the start.
