The ports hire seasonal workers every year to meet the significant increase in tourist traffic.
The summer period is synonymous with increased attendance for the ports of Cannes, Golfe Juan, Nice, and Villefranche, managed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). These four ports recruit seasonal workers to cope with this rise in activity.
The year 2011 is no exception, with a total of 46 seasonal workers recruited for the season and distributed as follows:
Cannes – 15
Golfe Juan – 4
Nice – Leisure – 6
Nice – Corsica – 16
Villefranche – 5
These young workers are employed in the Leisure services, tasked with assisting boaters with mooring and departure operations, and overseeing the placement of boats.
A notable aspect is that the port of Nice also welcomes seasonal workers for the Corsica activity, responsible for guiding passengers departing for the Isle of Beauty. These seasonal workers are tasked with enhancing service quality by strengthening presence at the ports, improving responsiveness on the docks, being available, and welcoming clients.
It is an enriching professional experience that allows one to train for a job, showcase their dynamism, and integrate into a work team.
Most of these seasonal workers are students (from high school diploma to four years post-secondary education) who have taken general knowledge, English, logic, and even geography tests to be equipped to answer the diverse questions from port clients.
*Attention candidates for the 2012 season.*
Moreover, candidates chosen to join one of the four ports are trained and supervised by our port agents. They benefit from a few days of integration and training at the beginning of the season.
This training is meant to raise awareness about safety and service quality because, as a reminder, the seasonal workers are the first point of contact with our clients, and they are the face of the ports.
The duration of these contracts is generally two months, and they can start as early as June 1st and go until September 30th.
