On the property of Mr. Gugliérame, on the road to Berre-les-Alpes, surface clues “predestined” a discovery.

After two hours of excavation, volunteers carefully unearthed a section of the ancient Maïre pipeline that brought water to the fountain. “We believe this part of the pipeline dates from the late 16th to early 17th century. Over these four meters in length, there are three different clay constructions and three different glazes inside the pipeline. The glaze prevented porosity. We will study them in more detail to learn more,” explains Anouk.
It is, therefore, a remarkable find that brought joy to the volunteers of the Friends of the Museum. This pipeline will be displayed in the room dedicated to water in the future museum of Contes.
