The small family celebration of the D1 champion hockey players was an opportunity for some interesting announcements: after the defeat in the playoff against Morzine, the Eagles might enter the Ligue Magnus thanks to an administrative reprieve!
In fact, it was learned on this occasion that Morzine, which blocked the Niçois from ascending, might merge with Chambéry, thus freeing up a spot that would automatically go to those who lost.
Moreover, it’s rumored that two other top-level clubs are facing serious budget issues…
In short, there’s every hope that the season will end on a high note. We will know more in the coming days.
Christian Estrosi, after awarding City medals to the club’s president Jean-François Ropart, manager Stan Sutor, and captain Aurélien Macon (one Niçois among the Slovakian contingent), gave encouragement to the leaders and players: “I will support you in securing the necessary means to participate in the Ligue Magnus if it becomes possible,” he declared with the fervent passion that animates him when talking about sports!
This promise refers to the new sports funding policy that the Regional Council will vote on this Friday during the presentation and deliberation of the 2016 budget.
There is no doubt that the needs of the clubs from the Niçois capital will be considered with benevolent attention and will be well addressed.
We didn’t win such difficult elections just to do nothing!
