Hockey (Ligue Magnus): the Eagles are defeated by the Gothics

Latest News

Last night at the Jean Bouin ice rink in Nice, Nice and Amiens supporters gathered to cheer on their teams on this first day of the Ligue Magnus.

A lackluster first period. Despite a series of promising actions, the men of Frantisek Stolc could not score. Shots on target followed one another, but none crossed the net of goalkeeper Clément Fouquerel for Amiens and Nikita Bespalov for Nice. Several players from each team spent time in the penalty box for a series of fouls. They were penalized each time for two minutes.

The match opens up in the second period

The second period was more eventful. The first scorer was Yohan Slav (4′) for the Eagles returning from the locker room. The lead was very short-lived. The Gothiques quickly equalized through Tomas Simonsen (5′). He continued on their momentum three minutes later by scoring a brace. A third goal from the Amiens players would close the second period. It was scored by Zachary Lavigne (16′).

In the third period, Nice supporters continued to sing even louder to encourage their team and give strength to the players. Five minutes before the end of the game, the Eagles closed in on the Gothiques by scoring their second goal through their Ukrainian defender, Filipp Pangelov-Yuldashev (15′). Despite this goal from Nice’s recruit, it was not enough. The Nice Eagles were defeated on their home ice rink (2-3) for this Ligue Magnus season opener.

Next match this Tuesday, September 12 at the Grenoble ice rink.
