Carried by an incredible and fantastic Phil Marinaccio, who scored his third hat-trick of the season at Jean Bouin, the Chamonix Pioneers shone on the Côte d’Azur by defeating their direct rivals, the Nice Eagles, with a score of 7-0.
Indeed, the evening was explosive for the top scorer of the Chamonix team, scoring twice in the second period followed by another goal early in the third period to widen the gap with the team from Nice.
Other contributors included Samuel Salonen (x2), Matthias Terrier, and Jarko Harjula, who also played a part in their team’s fine victory, in this crucial game for the playoff race.
With five games remaining in the regular season, the Eagles lose their qualifying spot. Nothing is definitively lost, but a strong response is needed to avoid a serious setback.
