Hockey: Nice secures a home victory

Latest News

The Nice hockey players had an appointment with the 17th day of Ligue Magnus this Friday evening at the Jean Bouin ice rink. After a victory on Tuesday in the French Cup, the Eagles regained their momentum and welcomed the Jockers.

Before the kickoff, the Azuréens were one point behind Cergy, who are in eighth place. The Nice team needed to win to maintain their position in the playoff qualification spots. In a rather unconvincing first period, Bryan Sautereau created a surprise just before the break and opened the scoring (1-0).

A more committed second period

Quickly, the Jockers took their revenge. Aleksi Hamalaien equalized in the 25th minute (1-1), which did not sit well with the Nice players. They wanted to assert their superiority. They regained the lead midway through the second period with a goal by Jesper Larinmaa assisted by Yevgeni Nikiforov and Mikael Kuronen (2-1). Continuing their momentum, Frantisek Stolc’s team scored the third and final goal of the match by Mikael Kuronen again (3-1). During the third period, the opposing team conceded too many penalties. Nice controlled the game and eventually secured the victory.

Next match will be on Tuesday, November 21, for the derby in Marseille.
