The champion has fallen! The Aigles’ first regular season match at Jean Bouin lived up to all its promises.
From the first minute, Radomir Heizer scored for the Niçois! Yet, Stan Sutor’s men went to the locker room trailing by one goal. In the second period, the Aigles equalized before seeing the Rouennais retake the lead.
But Jakub Matai’s teammates showed courage, quickly leveling the score in the following minute. The two teams were neck and neck 20 minutes before the final whistle. The opportunities were mostly on the side of the Normans, but the defensive lapses from the visitors allowed Nice to take the lead and secure a remarkable victory against the French champion.
As a reminder, the Azuréens had never beaten Rouen at Jean Bouin since their return to the top tier!
