Friday evening, the Jean Bouin ice rink hosted the third day of the Ligue Magnus. The Eagles faced the Raptors.
For this second home match, it was the Nice players who opened the scoring. After good plays from both opponents, Yevgeni Nikiforov found the gap. Assisted by two teammates, Andrei Rychagov and Marc-André Levesque, the men of Frantisek Stolc took the lead. Sticks clashed as both teams fought for the puck, but it would not enter either net during the first period, despite two penalties for the Eagles, who were down two players simultaneously. The Nice team did not give up after two consecutive defeats; they wanted to show that this season, they have something up their sleeves.
The Eagles make the break
No rest for the Nice team. Five minutes after getting back on the ice, the hockey players from the Côte d’Azur asserted themselves with a second goal scored by Canadian player Louis Belisle. Less than a minute later, it was Mikael Kuronen‘s turn to follow up with the Eagles’ third goal. During the third period, the Gapençais could not get past the wall Nikita Bespalov. The Nice goalie let nothing through and was named player of the match.
“And 1, and 2, and 3: zero!” chanted by all Nice supporters. Smiles finally appeared on the faces of players and supporters. The Nice Eagles team won their first match of the season.
