This Friday evening, the Eagles welcome Chamonix at the Jean Bouin ice rink as part of the 14th day of the Ligue Magnus. The Nice team narrowly loses (1-2) and suffers another defeat in the Ligue Magnus.

The Eagles want to end their losing streak. The Nice team has had four consecutive defeats in the Ligue Magnus, the last one being in Angers (4-1), just a week ago. The Eagles of Nice welcome Chamonix this Friday, October 27, at the Jean Bouin ice rink. The Pioneers of Chamonix are currently third in the championship. Nice is currently ninth. Temporarily, they are the first team in the relegation group (teams ranked from 9th to 12th position).

Kick-off Delayed

Due to an issue with the ice rink, the start of the match was delayed to 8:30 PM. The kick-off finally took place in front of packed stands. The start of the match was very balanced between the two teams. The game was enlivened by an early altercation between Yegveni Nikiforov and a Chamonix player. Both players were given a seven-minute ejection each following this minor scuffle. The tension on the ice increased. Neither team gained the upper hand in this first period (0-0).

The intensity did not drop in the second period. The Eagles of Nice became increasingly threatening. However, they still couldn’t find the back of the net. Chamonix’s defense held strong. The score remained unchanged despite a two-man advantage for the Nice team. Ultimately, Chamonix opened the scoring in the final seconds of this period with a goal by Jari Sailio (0-1).

A Tight Game from Start to Finish

Frantisek Stolc’s men found themselves trailing against the run of play. Less incisive, the Eagles struggled to get back into the game. Chances were less clear-cut in this final period. But Nice equalized in the 49th minute through Norbert Abramov (1-1). The Eagles pushed to overturn the match. Once again, Chamonix regained the lead two minutes from the end of the game, thanks to Jérémie Benz. Defeated by a narrow margin, the Nice team suffers their fifth loss in the Ligue Magnus. The Eagles remain stuck at a disappointing ninth place.

The next match is on Sunday, October 29, for the southern derby against Marseille, here at the Jean Bouin ice rink. Kick-off at 8 PM.
