Unsurprisingly, Frantisek Stolc’s men logically triumphed over the Ducs de Dijon in the second round of the Coupe de France.
The challenge was too great for the Dijon team. After eliminating Colmar (d2) in the first round, the division 3 leader hosted an elite team, who were ninth in the standings in the regular season with 14 points. To have any hope of overcoming Nice, Dijon was particularly relying on the return of Slovak forward Michal Macko, who had a remarkable season in Cรดte-dโOr during 2019-2020.
A One-Sided Match
To quickly dispel any suspense, the Nice team won by a wide margin of (0-8). In the first half, Dijon managed to resist as much as they could, limiting the Eagles to just one goal (A. Rychagov). It was mainly in the second period that Nice picked up the pace, scoring four goals before repeating with three more in the final and third period. With no fewer than eight different goal scorers, the evening’s winners imposed their game while giving the underdog Dijon team no chance. Loรฏc Chabert, who played from 2019 to 2022 on the Cรดte d’Azur, could do nothing against his former team.
