His name is Eliot, hers, Amanda.
They were united for better and for worse.
They did not just love each other, they loved each other passionately, so passionately that they divorced five years earlier. Passion is exhausting!
At this point, you might think that I am contradicting myself in what I write. Think again!
Eliot and Amanda are so in love that they prefer to separate and start their lives anew on their own to suffer less. Suffer? Yes, to suffer less because the etymology of the word passion comes from the Latin “patium,” which means “to suffer.” So to heal from this intensely “love disease,” they found the remedy: separation.
Today, Eliot and Amanda remarry. And surprisingly, during their honeymoon, this former couple realizes that they are staying in the same hotel…
Panic on board! The feelings that inhabited them five years ago are still present. Their flame has not turned into a spark. Cupid is tirelessly there. Running away has therefore been in vain! Will their new marriage withstand this love-passion? Will they succumb to their desire? Is it better to be lost in passion or to lose one’s passion? These are the questions that audiences watching “Honeymoon,” a sparkling comedy by Noel Coward adapted by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt and directed by Bernard Murat, will ponder.
And who better than a couple as passionate and loving in real life could portray these two lovers who “can neither live together nor live apart”? Can’t guess? Evelyne Bouix and Pierre Arditi, of course. Love at the theater, love in life!
These two great actors invite you on Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25, at the Debussy Theater in Cannes at 8:30 PM for a journey to the heart of a household where the endless cycle of “I love you, me neither…” reigns.
Do not miss it!
