Horse Racing: A Promising Conclusion to the Flat Racing Meeting

Latest News

The flat racing meeting at the Cagnes-sur-Mer racecourse concludes this Saturday with the most prestigious event featuring two prestigious races and a “Quintรฉ.” It is also an opportunity to gather to celebrate the Carnival with a variety of activities for both children and adults.

Itโ€™s already the end! Five weeks after the start of the flat racing meeting, itโ€™s time for the closure on the Cagnes circuit. Indeed, there will still be eight trotting meetings until Friday, March 13, but for the gallopers, the journey back to the Parisian region, the southwest, or the outskirts of Marseille is near.

As is customary, this final meeting will host high-level events with the Grand Prix of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes (2500m on the large track, โ‚ฌ75,000 to be shared among the top five), a Galop challenge. It will be the first of the ten races in the circuit created in 2005, which also extends to Switzerland, Spain, and Germany. At the end of the year, the team behind the best galloper, the best trainer, and the best jockey will receive awards and a check based on the points earned. It will be a race day highlighted by the Prix Policeman (Listed, โ‚ฌ60,000 for the top five), where the best 3-year-olds will compete over 2,000m on the fiber-sanded track, not to forget the Prix Jacques Bouchara, a Quintรฉ + labeled race, over 1,600m.

In addition to the eight races on the Cagnes track, the final flat meeting will be marked by the Carnival theme, which began last week in Nice. To entertain both children and adults, large puppet heads, giant mascots, and stilt walkers will roam the racecourse accompanied by a marching band. About thirty cars will entertain the spectators with choreographed routines, and for those looking to play, a giant raffle will take place, offering tickets to a parade and a flower battle at the Nice Carnival.
