Humanitarian aid: the City of Nice and the CHU support Libreville

Latest News

In the context of the friendly relations that bind the City of Nice and the city of Libreville, twin cities since January 15, 1962, a utility vehicle bearing the colors of both cities will be shipped by sea to the Libreville Hospital Center.

This vehicle is from the City of Nice’s vehicle fleet and is intended to facilitate the transport of blood samples between the Libreville Hospital Center and the Faculty of Medicine.

This action is part of the ESTHER program (Ensemble de Solidarité Thérapeutique Hospitalière en Réseau) in which the Nice Hospital Center and that of Libreville are partners.

In parallel, the City and the Hospital Center of Nice are participating in equipping the Ambowe medical center by sending a container to Libreville (which covers the transport costs) with a shipment of medical equipment:

Equipment from the City of Nice: 28 beds, 4 bed tables, 4 walkers, 2 patient chairs, 18 boxes of syringes.

Equipment from the CHU: 1 examination table, 2 viewing boxes, 1 examination table.

Since October 2006, the twinning between the two cities has been reactivated. This was followed by the reception of a delegation from the African city in July 2009. This meeting was an opportunity to lay the foundations for new partnerships, particularly in the fields of health and sanitation.

In February 2010, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Nice’s attachment to France and the Carnival, Jean-François N’Toutoume Emane, Mayor of Libreville, made an official trip to Nice.

And in February 2011, during the Nice Carnival, an official delegation was once again welcomed, and cooperation agreements in the medical and cultural fields were studied.
