The curtain opens. Five burqas face the stage. In the midst of the debate on the full veil in France, only one thought crosses minds: they dared. Laughter immediately bursts out, setting the tone.
The skits follow, each one funnier than the last, performed by a group of merry pranksters who enjoy themselves as much as they entertain the audience. For example, a sketch by Yann Stotz and Florent Peyre presents a news segment for the deaf and hard of hearing, with a man miming everything dictated in the news by the journalist—absolutely everything. It’s a rather… hilarious take on current events!
Another sketch, seen on television in “Plié en 4” on France 4, is performed by Les Cuissards and Tano. It features war amputees missing an arm and a stranger at the urinals who finds himself in a ludicrous situation that triggers hilarity in the audience.
The artists were applauded by an audience who couldn’t stop laughing, more than convinced by their performance.
Starting Wednesday, May 12, find Florent Peyre, with his inimitable Italian accent and burlesque grimaces, still at the Théâtre des Oiseaux. He will be there until May 23, 2010. Tano will step in at short notice, performing from May 26 to May 30, 2010.
