Hydroxychloroquine will soon no longer be administered in France against Covid-19.

The High Council for Public Health (HCSP), consulted by the Ministry of Health, recommends “not using hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19” outside of clinical trials, whether alone or combined with an antibiotic.

For its part, the Medicines Agency (ANSM) announced it has “launched” the precautionary suspension procedure for clinical trials evaluating hydroxychloroquine in patients with Covid-19.

These two opinions follow the publication on Friday of a study highlighting the ineffectiveness and risks of this drug for Covid-19 patients. Published in the leading journal The Lancet, it has already prompted the WHO (World Health Organization) to suspend on Monday the clinical trials it conducts with hydroxychloroquine in several countries, as a precaution.

The directly affected party, Professor Didier Raoult, commented indifferently on these decisions affecting his actions: “they are just opinions like any other, I don’t really care.”
