Since October 2, 2008, “Je m’voyais déjà” (formerly “En haut de l’affiche”) has been playing. This musical by Laurent Ruquier is based on the songs of Charles Aznavour. With Jonatan Cerrada in one of the lead roles, the show’s cast is filled with familiar faces, taking you on a journey through the musical notes of Charles Aznavour.
In “Je m’voyais déjà,” a young troupe performs the beautiful and timeless songs of Aznavour, often marked by nostalgia yet transcending trends and years without aging, accompanied by live musicians.
Laurent Ruquier’s book is not a biography of the famous Charles Aznavour. Instead, the focus is on evoking the “loves and woes” of young artists dreaming of fame, who, tired of auditioning, decide to create their own show, inspired by a returning singer.
An explosive and unforgettable cocktail of delightful pieces such as “les plaisirs démodés” with a psychedelic twist, the flawless swing of “pour faire une jam,” “le feutre taupé,” or “for me formidable,” not to mention a nod to titles written for Vartan and Hallyday like “la plus belle pour aller danser” and “retiens la nuit,” performed by the exceptional voices of Pablo Villafranca (from “The Ten Commandments”), and Jonatan Cerrada (winner of the first edition of “Nouvelle Star”), to name just a few.
Katia Aznavour, the singer’s daughter and artistic director of the show along with Jean Rachid, shares that her father wanted “a funny, lively, and energetic musical comedy” — promise fulfilled!
