The “Smarter Cities” challenge is a global societal engagement initiative by IBM, which leverages IBM’s skills and technology to support cities through a competition. The latest challenge provides 100 cities around the world with strategic planning expertise, data management, and technologies over three years. A year ago, Nice Côte d’Azur won the challenge and became the only territory in France to be chosen by IBM.

Since then, Nice Côte d’Azur has been benefiting from the expert advice of IBM’s technical experts, researchers, and French and international consultants to develop the Multimodal Hub project, which will be established at the entrance of the Operation of National Interest – Eco Valley.

Since the creation of the Metropolis in January 2012, a new governance has been in place. Based on the recommendations from IBM’s experts, the territory will continue to organize itself more fluidly and transversally around the theme of sustainable mobility, relying on the innovations already deployed in Nice Côte d’Azur: mobile contactless services, the European “Instant Mobility” project, smart grids, environmental sensors in Cagnes-sur-Mer, intelligent parking, etc.
