The Eagles delivered a poor performance against the Chevaliers du Lac who were able to take advantage of the Nice team’s drop in pace to win the match.
And yet, everything was set for an excellent evening, with defeats for Brest and Reims, Stan Sutor’s men could have taken 3rd place and been just 1 point behind 2nd place. However, the Eagles did not perform well in the match.

Despite a lackluster first period, the Eagles went back to the locker room with a 2-2 score, thanks to goals from Joona Peranen and Arne Krotak with a power play advantage.

In the second period, it was the Eagles who controlled the game. Fast and strong, the Nice team had many opportunities. Despite this clear domination, the Eagles returned to the locker room with a 3-3 score.
It took 44 minutes for Nice to take the lead, thanks to a goal by Aurélien Macon. With only 5 minutes of play left, the Nice team weakened. The Chevaliers du Lac equalized and took the lead again with 3 minutes 30 left in the match. The Nice team had 3’30 to equalize, but the skill and desire were no longer present.
End of the match 5-4 for Annecy.

This season, we’re witnessing a championship full of surprises. Only 6 points separate 2nd and 10th place in 17 matches! Hard work and consistency will be required to secure a spot in the playoffs!

Next match, Saturday, January 19th at 19:15, Nice will host Anglet (winner over Reims this weekend) at the Jean Bouin ice rink.
