The Eagles of Nice secured 2 points for the victory last night in Bordeaux, for the 1st day of the French Division 1 championship. The team from Nice won the match with a score of 4-3 after overtime.
The first period was very difficult for the team from Nice, likely due to a lack of preparation games. Indisciplined and disorganized, the Eagles ended the 1st third with a 1-0 score in favor of the Boxers. To top it all, Stan Sutor could no longer rely on Andrej Themar, who was the victim of a violent shoulder hit.
The team from the Azure Coast, weakened by the absence of 4 players (Stefan Majernik, Franck Fulop, Nicolas Motreff, and Andrej Themar), started the second period. The Boxers pressed right from the start of the 2nd period and were leading 2-0 at 22 minutes of play. The game improved more and more; midway through the match, Arne Krotak found Aurรฉlien Macon for the finish (2-1). It was in the 3rd period that the team from Nice made the difference. The captain from the Azure Coast found Aurรฉlien Macon once again, who managed to provide the equalizer for Nice. In a power play, following a shot from Alan Dana, the Eagles overtook the Boxers (3-2). It was thought that the hardest part was done, but the Bordelais were not ready to give up; 2 minutes before the end of the match, they managed to fool the Nice goalkeeper (3-3).
They moved to overtime. Jimmy Lundberg stopped a penalty shot. At 64:18 minutes of play, in a power play, Jozef Slaninak secured the victory for the Eagles of Nice!
