The Eagles’ transfer market is continuously in motion with departures and arrivals continuing at a rapid pace. What will the final look of the Nice team be next season? We’re waiting for the last surprises…
Imposing defenseman (6 ft, 198 lbs), the young (19-year-old) Alexis Besson signs with Nice. Developed at the Gothiques d’Amiens where he was a key element of the U18 then U22 team, Alexis moved to the newly promoted Magnus League team Neuilly-sur-Marne in 2011/2012.
Back in Amiens last season, Alexis scored 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists) in 14 U22 matches and played the Magnus League season in the Amiens ranks.
At only 19 years old, Alexis already has over 50 Magnus League games under his belt! A junior international in several categories (U16, U18, U20), the new Nice player aims to continue his progress wearing the Eagles’ jersey.
Nice Hockey Côte d’Azur decided to engage Lukas Skrecko (Slovakian, 25 years old) to guard the Eagles’ net during the 2013/2014 season.
With an impressive size (6’4”, 212 lbs), the Slovakian goalie is accustomed to high-level contests as he has played a total of 123 Extraliga games (Slovakia’s top tier).
Last year, he even won the Slovak championship with HKM Zvolen! He only played two games for his club before being loaned to HC Dukla Trencin, where he played 12 games (90.3% save rate) and also to HC Detva (Slovakia’s second tier) where he played 6 games (93.1% save rate).
Additionally, the new Eagles’ goalie has shown great willingness to invest in the training of young team goalies. A very good piece of news for goalkeepers in the making!
Finally, the club also announces the arrival of Slovakian defenseman, Milan Varga (28 years old, 5’10”, 183 lbs).
Milan is a solid and rugged defenseman, with extensive experience gained in various Eastern European championships, especially in the Extraliga (Slovakia’s top tier), where he has played in Kosice, Mikulas, and Zilina.
With a very good shot from the blue line, Milan will be a defenseman to watch closely next season.
