The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has just announced its decision: Nice Hockey Côte d’Azur has been granted the organization of the U18 Ice Hockey World Championship, Division 1 Group A (second tier worldwide).
The competition will take place at the Eagles’ den, the Jean Bouin rink, at the end of April 2014 (exact dates are yet to be determined). This is a well-deserved reward for a club that has been very active for many years and has structured itself to climb the ranks of national hockey.
On this occasion, the young French team will host Norway, Latvia, Belarus, Italy, and Kazakhstan.
In a statement, Nice Hockey Côte d’Azur expressed their delight at this opportunity and acknowledged the responsibility entrusted to them. The club hopes these two events will enable Nice and French hockey to develop further and attract new members!
Good news never comes alone, as France has also secured the organization of the 2017 Senior Elite World Championship, which it will co-host with Germany.
