The Eagles of Nice lost in Mulhouse with a score of 2-1. The team from Nice is now in 7th place in the French D1 Championship.
The Eagles were deprived of warm-up time (only 10 minutes for the players) because the sticks and equipment of Lukas SKRECKO were held up by snow on the road. The Mulhouse officials showed understanding and should be sportingly thanked for that.
Despite the lack of preparation of the Nice goalkeeper, the Eagles got right into the game. Lukas SKRECKO was in great form, allowing the Nice team to return to the locker room at the end of the 1st period with a score of 0-0.
The match was very close, as Mulhouse opened the scoring at 23โ45. However, 2 minutes later, Joakim ARSENAULT equalized.
The Eagles held on and everyone thought they would at least secure a point in overtime, but 1 minute before the end, after a faceoff, Mulhouse scored the 2nd goal.
According to Stan Sutor, the Nice coach: “After a few difficult away matches, we were determined to play well on the road, and I think we did. We were more than a challenging opponent for Mulhouse. In a fantastic atmosphere, the match was decided by small details, a bad bounce, and it’s frustrating to lose that way, but it is encouraging for the future.
We have shown that we are capable of doing something good. Thanks to all the supporters who traveled with us.”
The Azureans thus lost the game 2-1, but the Eagles offered a good performance. Next match is on Saturday, January 11: Nice hosts Neuilly.
