The Eagles of Nice won last weekend’s match against the Bรฉlougas of Toulouse with a score of 5-2. The team from Toulouse moves down to Division 2, while the Eagles of Nice will face Bordeaux in the quarter-finals this Saturday, March 30 at the Jean Bouin ice rink in Nice, for the first game of these playoffs that could lead to promotion.

Joni Raikkonen opened the scoring with a slap shot from the blue line. In the 2nd period, the players from Nice increased the pace of the game. Midway through the match, Karri Koivu managed to find the back of the net (1-2). The team from the French Riviera directed the game towards the Bรฉlougas’ net, but to no avail. With 1 second left in the 1st period, the Bรฉlougas tied the game while on a power play (2-2).
In the 3rd period, Stefan Majernik found himself alone in front of an empty net and received a magnificent pass from Arne Krotak. With 4 minutes left in the match, Nicolas Motreff delivered the Eagles! With 13 seconds remaining in the game, Stefan Majernik scored his second goal into the empty net. The match ended 5-2 for the Eagles!
Stan Sutor: “I am happy with our hard-fought victory. We lacked success, and it was difficult to overcome our lack of effectiveness. Toulouse came back into the match, but we fought our way to victory with determination!”
Let’s meet at the Jean Bouin ice rink on Saturday to solidify our progress!
