Ideopress, a new press agency in Nice

Latest News

After 18 months of operations, IDEOPRESS has just been granted the status of “Audiovisual Press Agency” by the media department of the Prime Minister’s office.

Ideopress thus becomes the second agency on the French Riviera.

It is through producing news reports, magazines, and documentaries that Ideopress succeeded in obtaining its press agency license.

In 2004, it was URBANTOUR, the magazine covering urban cultures and trends, that enabled Alban Guillien and Julien Manuguerra, the two managing professional journalists, to start their venture.

Since then, a documentary filmed in Hawaii and sold on cable, a daily one-hour show “Nice Morning,” and quite a few projects “in the pipeline” have enabled them to consolidate their business.

With at least 216 hours of programming commissioned for 2006, Ideopress becomes one of the leading producers by volume in the PACA region.

An international network for selling reports on the internet also allows this new agency to broadcast its projects around the world.

In 2006, Ideopress will launch a web portal intended for broadcasting reports on iPods (podcasting), which will eventually allow users to access current events or magazine topics on demand and download them to their iPods.

Safe travels Alban and Julien, and all the best for the approaching new year.

INTERVIEW with Alban and Julien from IDEOPRESS

Alban and Julien, what are IDEOPRESS’s activities?

We produce reports, documentaries, and magazines. For the region, Ideopress is the first agency to externally produce a one-hour daily morning magazine “Nice Morning” for Nice Television. This program is a real gamble for the local channel and for us since it requires producing one hour of content every day… Nice Morning features the guest of the day, interviews with stars (Mickey 3D, Franck Dubosc, Roch Voisine have already appeared on Nice Morning), and also includes daily reports.

All our topics are offered and sold internationally, via an internet news platform. Hence, we are quite busy.

What has been your journey so far?

Alban: I started as a local correspondent for France 3 Burgundy in 1996, then I became a permanent staff member at France 3 but in Auxerre. I worked on the Emile Louis case for 18 months in 2000. Then in 2001, I returned to Nice to open the local office there (still for France 3). In 2004, I decided to embark on an adventure with Julien Manuguerra by creating Ideopress.

Julien: I graduated from the journalism school in Nice, and after many experiences in radio (France Bleu, France Inter, and Info), I worked for nearly two and a half years at regional France 3. Concurrently, I did a lot of football match broadcasts for Radio France. Then came the year 2004 and the decision taken with Alban to do something else, which suited us better. For both of us, France 3 was a real opportunity for our training. That’s where we learned our trade. Today, we are ready to aim higher!
