Illegal dumping: hitting hard against incivility

Latest News

Each year, more than 3 million euros are spent to combat illegal dumping, a phenomenon affecting every city in France.

In Nice, more than 50 “Oxygènes” operations are conducted annually at sensitive sites. Three waste collection centers located in the northern, eastern, and western districts of the city are freely accessible to residents, allowing for 16 visits per year or 2 tons of deposits. The bulky waste service intervenes in less than 20 minutes and is free of charge upon making a phone appointment through the Allo Mairies number at 3906.

It is essential for each stakeholder to take their share of responsibility. The repressive and legislative components must evolve towards more severity against uncivil behaviors. Currently, offenses related to illegal dumping only constitute a contravention within the criminal code.

Christian Estrosi has approached the Prime Minister to change the legal framework, and in this regard, a bill will be submitted by Deputy Marine Brenier and Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone. It is imperative today that the law provides the legal means to tackle this offense.
