The San Giovanni and Traditions Onegliesi committee is once again organizing the traditional San Giovanni Festival this year. A fixed summer event in Imperia, the festival features its most beloved and popular moment in the “Restaurant by the Sea,” offering the opportunity to savor Ligurian traditional dishes every evening from 7:00 PM.
“Stoccafisso à l’Onegliese” cooked in the record-breaking pot “Giuvanina” (listed in the Guinness Book of Records), over 3 meters in diameter, pesto pasta, anchovies and fried fish, cundiun, fries, grilled meats, excellent Ligurian wines, and many cakes: in short, a triumph for those who love the true flavors of festivals that make Liguria unique.
At the San Giovanni festival, cultural gatherings take place every day, and in the evening, under a special tent, there are always performances with music, ballroom dancing, and DJs for the younger crowd. For the little ones, there is a large play area with inflatable structures and many attractions designed by the famous clowns Fortunello and Marbella.
Moreover, every day from 6:00 PM, the MercantIneja fair opens in the splendid setting of Calata Cuneo on the Oneglia port, with craft, trade, and typical product stalls that ensure a pleasant seaside stroll and quality shopping.
Even the festival venue is special: Piazzale Cristino de Oneglia with its extensive space directly on the sea. The festival is an excellent opportunity to discover the city, by visiting its two souls, Oneglia and Porto Maurizio, with its museums, churches, and unique places that make Imperia a tourist destination to be discovered.
