Last night, the Crazy Week !!! festival opened its doors for the 4th consecutive year with a highly anticipated band: Thirty Seconds To Mars. The festival kicked off strong with a sold-out show not just for yesterday but also for tonight (Asaf Avidan + Tété). Let’s start with congratulations!
We rarely see the Théâtre de Verdure so full. Last evening was anticipated to be “sold out” with ecstatic fans waiting for their favorite band from 2 PM, in front of the new courtyard barriers.
And after an opening act performed by very good musicians (Air Bag One), Jared Leto and his band stormed the stage like a tornado invading the theater. Screams erupted in the venue at the arrival of the singer but also of his brother, Shannon, who delivers (it goes without saying) on drums, and Tomo Milicevic (guitar, keyboard & more).
A real American-style show! Confetti, giant balloons, inflatable animals floated above the spectators. Jared played along: “I love you France.” Every admirer took it as a personal declaration: “I love you too.” It must be said that the 42-year-old teenager, looking 17, hasn’t changed since “Angela, 15.” What’s his secret?
Whatever the case, they’re playing well tonight! Even for the skeptics, the band wins them over with a beautiful vocal tone for the singer, impressive instrumental performances, and a well-oiled machinery for everything else. The magic happens, and the audience (many tattooed) is captivated. The most dedicated even have the triangular logo of Thirty Seconds To Mars inked on their skin. To get a better view above the heads, some cling to the barriers, cramps or not, they see the stage, and that’s what matters.
An epic night to set the tone for this new edition of the crazy week!
