AUCTION SALE “MADE FOR JAPAN”, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 2:00 PM
Works will be auctioned off, and the proceeds from this sale will be entirely donated to the Japanese Red Cross. The works will be exhibited and available to view from May 3 to May 6 at the HIERRO DESVILLES ART GALLERY, 4 rue Antoine Gautier, in the Port district, in Nice. The sale will be conducted by Master Palloc, a notary auctioneer from Nice.

Jean-Antoine HIERRO, designer, visual artist, and gallery owner, deeply moved by the tragedy in Japan, initiated a call to artists on Monday, March 14, to organize an auction in aid of the victims of the earthquake and Tsunami.

“Made for Japan”, artists in solidarity

From the moment the call was launched on Facebook, about fifty artists responded. Thus, Jean-Claude Farhi, Sacha Sosno, Giorgio Laveri, Jean Mas, and many young artists: Frega, Larsen, Dollรฉ, Cisko Kidd, Arboireau, Brangรฉ, Taburchi, Savoff, Hรฉnion, and many others have already committed to contributing artworks.

In addition to several prominent names from the School of Nice and the new generation of regional artists, around ten pieces of primitive art will be up for sale, including five offered by HIERRO, who will also donate five of his own works. Antique dealers from the Port district of Nice, gallery owners, and collectors have also expressed their contribution.

“I recently had the opportunity to be invited to Japan by my friend Keisuke Matsuhima, a star chef in Nice and Tokyo. One cannot remain indifferent to the tragedy experienced by this population. And even if Japan is a major economic power, in such circumstances cash donations are welcome, as the needs are and will be significant,” explains Jean-Antoine Hierro.
