In Nice, democracy becomes a magazine

democrate-magazine.jpg Following the recent presidential and legislative elections, Ludovic Traรฏka devised the project to launch a new publication. A few weeks later, it was Dรฉmocrate Magazine that emerged as a collective project bringing together the defenders of democracy in the French Riviera.

Politics, of course, but not only, as major themes such as education, ecology, and society as a whole will be covered by the magazine. Culture and leisure will also have their place in this new publication, which will be distributed by its creators in the coming days.

Nice Premium interviewed Ludovic Traรฏka, founder of Dรฉmocrate Magazine, who tells us about this new media outlet in Nice.

Nice Premium: Ludovic Traรฏkia, can you tell us about Dรฉmocrate Magazine which will soon be launched in Nice?

ludovic-traika.jpg Ludovic Traรฏkia: Dรฉmocrate Magazine is a magazine designed and written by democrats. It is based on five major themes: politics, education, society, ecology, culture & leisure.

Its goal is to inform our fellow citizens with a democratic perspective on all our topics.

NP: Why this new monthly publication and how many copies will you print?

LT: The idea for Dรฉmocrate Magazine was born in the aftermath of the presidential and legislative elections. Noticing an obvious muzzling of the press, I chose to contribute to this field. It seemed important to me to “resist” by offering citizens the opportunity to access a free and pluralistic editorial line.

Discussing this initiative around me, I discovered that there was potential for it to become a collective project. Indeed, many people collaborated on this first issue. Among them, some come from the Democratic Movement, which today advocates new methods and ideas.

The magazine will have an initial print run of 2,000 copies in Nice (with the aim of reaching a stable level of between 5,000 and 8,000 copies.)

This magazine will have a national ambition in the near future.

NP: It will be a free magazine. Why this choice and how will it be distributed?

LT: We opted for a free format to facilitate access to it.

The magazine will be distributed by collaborators at strategic locations throughout the city to reach as many people as possible (Cap 3000, Nice Etoile, etc).

Additionally, it will be downloadable from its website: www.democratemagazine.com (online on September 10)

NP: How will you finance your publication?

LT: The magazine will be self-financed through advertising.

NP: Any sneak peeks for the first issue?

In the political theme:
The new landscape of activism in France!

In the Education theme:
Training primary school teachers!

And other exciting articles that I invite you to discover!

NP: Finally, did you encounter any difficulties while designing your publication in Nice

LT: Not really, there are always a few difficulties with a new project. I must admit that I was very well supported during the magazine’s development, both by my writers and my communication partners.

Of course, I would like to thank them for the magazine, for democracy, and for the human adventure that comes with it.
