After four films each as breathtaking as the last, one might think that Pottermania has run out of steam. Well, no! The fans of Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are still as numerous as ever. There were 432 who showed up for the 1:45 PM screening at Pathé Masséna in Nice to admire the new adventures of the most famous wizard on the planet. And many more throughout the day.
Who doesn’t know Harry Potter? Who has never heard of Daniel Radcliffe? Apparently no one… or at least very few. Since the release in December 2001 of the first installment of the young magician, several million around the world have flocked to cinemas to watch the first four episodes of films based on J.K. Rowling’s novels.
Yesterday, the fifth feature film featuring Harry Potter was released. Armed with patience as the queue exceeds the cinema’s limits, spectators in Nice hope to discover a film “as dark as the book” as described by Alexandra. Yann was “seduced by the trailers” and wants to be convinced of the “power of magic and magicians,” which fascinates him. Towards the back, Annie accompanies her grandson, expecting only one thing: that the new opus is “as good as the previous ones.” Harry Potter is a pleasure she offers herself as much as her grandson.
It’s already time for the first screening’s audience to leave. Alexandra found it “amazing with many more elaborate scenes, where there’s less wizardry.” She did not expect “a film like this because there’s little fighting.” With her daughter, they leave the cinema happy.
At Pathé, the organization is smooth “even if it’s very complicated to manage with the tramway construction,” explains Laetitia, who has been working in Nice cinemas for eight years. During the release of these major productions, “the staff is reinforced,” reveals Nicolas, manager at Pathé Masséna. “The very special atmosphere that surrounds these blockbusters is a bit like managing a herd,” notes Laetitia, referring to the many spectators eager to see the film.
A film that should attract thousands in France and several million worldwide. So if you haven’t done so yet, quickly run to see this fifth installment before it’s too late.
