Since Wednesday, nurse anesthetists have been on strike at Pasteur 2 Hospital. They are demanding the status of a medical auxiliary practicing in advanced practice.
Since the beginning of November, state-certified nurse anesthetists (IADE) have been on strike throughout France. This movement has significant consequences as some operating rooms have had to be closed and non-urgent surgeries have been postponed.
The reason for this strike? They are demanding the status of a medical auxiliary practicing in advanced practice (AMPA) but the issue is having difficulty progressing.
The stakes of this strike: to become an IADE, one must pass a competitive exam after their studies, followed by two additional years of trainingโa training that advanced practice nurses (IPA) do not need to undergo, yet they are recognized as AMPA.
The lack of recognition of this status could make this profession less attractive for future generations.
