This exhibition, lasting 15 days, is a tribute from the Nice gallery to one of its artists. It demonstrates, through several historical works, the very coherent journey of an artist who has greatly influenced Visual Poetry, Post-Fluxus music, and the dissipative languages of the young generations of Post-Conceptual Italian artists.

For Chiari, music and art were expressed in a ‘total’ manner because his vision of the world was total.

By freeing himself from fidelity to materials and techniques, he escaped the immediate recognition of the market and its instrumentalization. The art could thus go from a “production of objects” to a “production of experience”. Musical and gestural action, the fragment, the document, the photocopy, the printing press, the sheet, the book, the manipulated instrument, the paper, the word, the sound, etc., are all elements that Chiari used to maximize his transgression of the “continuous”, as a search for new and novel elements to insert into the game of Art History. His work operated in a system of “paraconsistent” logic that admitted forms of contradiction. Thus, a kind of upheaval of the Leibniz postulate is reached: it is not the possible worlds that found the laws of logic; on the contrary, it is we who choose the diverse ideas of a possible world, according to our logical requirements.

The figures of musician authors Sylvano Bussotti and Giuseppe Chiari were central to the formalization of this scope of knowledge in music and art, metabolizing it into unprecedented languages. But it is with Radical Architecture, born in Florence in 1965/66*, that this paradigm of indeterminacy finds an indelible historical testimony.
