In summary, this is the message that Patrick Allemand, the leader of the Socialists of the Alpes-Maritimes, wanted to convey to the leaders of his Party, whom he gathered for a back-to-business meeting that promises to be difficult, laborious, and…with deadlines of paramount importance.

“The security debate that the President of the Republic wanted to launch during the summer was a strong signal of what we should expect. The exploitation of any societal issue to deliver a simple message: in the face of difficulties, we need someone strong in charge.
No analysis, just action!”

So there are two things: either they are responsible, or their policy is not very good and even less effective!!!.”
“Look at what is happening locally: who are the ones stepping to the forefront to support the government’s policy? The Mayor of Nice and the President of the General Council, which means the two most important political figures in the department. Nothing to say about the outcome of their actions? The blame is always attributed to others, oddly those who are not in power!
Calling the PS the ‘party of hate’ because it criticizes the Government’s action shows a singular view of democracy.
Who quickly modified Christian Estrosi’s position, who had called for disciplinary measures against the Mayors to blame in security policy, if not François Fillon, who quickly corrected his colleague Minister’s blunder? Wasn’t it the European Parliament that sanctioned the expulsion policy against the Roma?”
Let’s not even mention the pension reform that clearly aims to penalize the more disadvantaged social categories, while if necessary, its funding should be charged to financial assets. On the contrary, they are protected, as was well highlighted in the Woerth-Bettencourt affair simply because they are very close to power.”
Is this the social justice that the President of the Republic boasts about in these societal reform speeches? Giving more to those who already have a lot and taking away from those who have little? Where is the equity in this orientation?
And again, the local government reform, which will not produce any savings on public finances, but on the contrary, will cause an evident dysfunction in the territorial organization and especially further distance citizens from their elected officials.
Why? Simply to penalize the PS, which is particularly present in the leadership of nearly all the Regions and many departments!
We have important appointments in the near future that require everyone’s mobilization:
- The primaries for choosing the left-wing candidate for the 2012 Presidential elections. We will need to demonstrate loyalty towards potential candidates from the non-socialist camp;
- The cantonal elections where we must keep our elected officials, if not improve our position.
The situation is difficult because those in power will not easily resign themselves to handing over. But the PS is in a position to regain its place in French society with the ambition to prepare the reconstruction of France because this is precisely what it’s about.
We will need to be vigilant and bold, but the period is interesting, and I ask each and every one of you not to miss this meeting.”
