Last Thursday, January 31st, the FSU, CGT, and Solidaires gathered public employees in Nice in the streets to protest against the deterioration of working conditions and pay.

Several hundred marched Thursday through the streets of Nice. Gathered at 10:30 AM at Place Garibaldi, they then took the Boulevard Carabacel. Among the concerns: education. The SNES (National Union of Secondary School Teachers), a founding union of the FSU (Unitary Trade Union Federation), denounces the perpetual increase in workload. Indeed, positions are multiplied in some establishments while jobs are being cut.

โ€œThe crisis cannot be used as an excuse for not addressing the legitimate demands of public agents,โ€ the unions say. In a joint statement calling for a strike and protest, the FSU, CGT, and Solidaires maintain that โ€œthe situation has worsened in recent years for staff [of the Public Service] as well as for usersโ€ and that โ€œthe issues require the broadest possible intervention of the staff.โ€
