On Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 10 a.m., Mr. Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, will inaugurate the commemorative stele in honor of Honoré d’Estienne d’Orves (1901-1941), Companion of the Liberation, in the presence of members of the d’Estienne d’Orves family.

Engaged in the Resistance from 1940, Honoré d’Estienne d’Orves was posthumously made a Companion of the Liberation by General de Gaulle on October 30, 1944. A stele has been erected in his honor, within the Departmental Natural Park situated on a former agricultural estate of the d’Estienne d’Orves family.

This ceremony will also be the occasion to inaugurate the developments made. A children’s playground, two pétanque courts with access for persons with reduced mobility, and a fitness area have been created to allow the people of Nice, the Côte d’Azur, and visitors to fully enjoy this green space in the city center.
