From June 12 to 21, the exhibition “Nice vivre ma ville” illustrates the culmination of an educational and academic initiative, representing the work of 7 classes ranging from CE1 to CM2 in Nice, and architect-mediator Elisabetta Castellano.

The “Nice vivre ma ville” operation allowed Nice schoolchildren to understand the planning of their city, its urbanism, architecture, and heritage. It was a way for students to better know their city, live in it better, respect it more, and most importantly, see it as a real heritage of which they are the natural heirs.

This educational initiative took place over 5 half-day sessions during which the schoolchildren could visit the main districts of Nice, map out the city’s plans, and finally discuss in class several themes: the planning of the 21st-century city, the architecture of buildings, housing renovation, colors, transport… So many subjects directly concerning the life of every citizen of Nice!

During this initiative, the young participants benefited from an educational tool created for the occasion by themselves: the book-map. Different themes are featured, such as the history of the birth of the city of Nice, the evolution and role of its urbanism and architecture over time, ongoing projects, know-how, and tools concerning the sustainable development of the municipality. The book-map also includes a plan of the city that the students themselves must illustrate, as well as a questionnaire related to their work that the young students had to answer.

Yesterday, the children present at the forum could fully express their enthusiasm and interest in this initiative, what they liked or liked less… And finally, their thanks to Architect Elisabetta Castellano.
